Explosives DETECTION

Our explosives detection program is rigorous and unmatched when it comes to developing single-purpose, single-handler teams dedicated to explosives detection. Often called “bomb-sniffing dogs,” our training starts in our New Jersey facility, where we train on a wide variety of explosive odors. We focus on eliminating all contamination and preparing our dogs to identify, quickly and reliably, any explosive odors. Our phases of training include:

  • Breeding/Selection: the best-in-class sporting dogs, renowned for their keen senses, drive, intelligence, stability, and stamina, are a required element in a successful partnership.

  • Socialization: Our trainee dogs are socialized to ensure they can function in multiple high-stress environments and around large groups without negative impacts on their ability to perform.

  • Imprinting: Alpha & Omega Full Service Scent Detection trainee dogs are then given thorough scent training, where they are taught to recognize over 30 different explosive odors and alert their handlers.

  • Operational Training: The final stage involves preparing the dog for the environments in which they might actually work, using critical training methods to make sure the dog is ready for deployment and field work.

NARCOTICS DETECTIOn

Narcotics searches are a crucial part of scent detection training, and is in high demand among working dog clients. Our dogs are carefully evaluated, and selected based on many factors. Once approved, they’re trained to detect narcotic substances in various locations, including residential properties, schools, workplace and office environments, open outdoor areas, and vehicles. Our certified K9s alert their handler to the presence of the substance and location through passive or aggressive alerts.

Narcotics Dogs are trained and certified to detect the following controlled substances:

  • Marijuana

  • Cocaine and Crack Cocaine

  • Methamphetamine

  • MDMA (Ecstasy)

  • Heroin

BED BUG DETECTION

Bed bugs are unpleasant, itchy, gross little pests, and they’re hard to detect without specialized equipment. At Alpha & Omega Full Service Scent Detection, we think the best equipment is a well-trained dog. In this training course, dogs are taught by handlers to identify the scent of these unwanted critters. This service is growing quickly in popularity as more and more Americans turn to eco-friendly pest management solutions.

Detection dogs are a much safer alternative to pesticides as a management strategy. Using the dogs senses, operators can determine with great precision where bed bugs are located, thus minimizing the area which will need to be sprayed. Dogs can smell in parts per trillion, which is far beyond the human capability, and thus can detect bed bugs through all phases of their life cycle, including nymphs.
